With the BTB series, Ibanez impressively demonstrates that professional boutique quality does not necessarily require a prohibitive investment. The instruments combine select woods, neck-through construction, and high-quality components to create bass guitars that reflect the musical dedication of their players—yet remain affordable. This claim stems from decades of innovation in the Ibanez Bass Workshop series, in which the development team continuously implements new ideas to meet the individual requirements of modern bassists. The result is instruments that expand creative expression and open up new sonic horizons. Among other features, the current model offers a 5-piece maple/walnut neck with graphite reinforcement for maximum stability and sustain, a panga panga fingerboard with clearly defined response, and medium stainless steel frets for long durability. The combination of a poplar burl top and okoume/ash body wings delivers a brilliant, sustain-rich basic sound. The new T1 humbuckers offer exceptionally flexible tone shaping and high playing comfort thanks to their individually adjustable dual coils, while the Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ with 3-way switchable mid frequency and bypass option provides precise control. This is complemented by the MR5S bridge with variable string spacing adjustment and a sturdy hardshell case. Special highlights include the 37–35" multi-scale neck, which allows for tight low strings and comfortable playing on the high strings, as well as the neck-through construction, which provides great sustain and unhindered access to the highest frets. The result is an instrument that is consistently designed for professional performance, comfort, and tonal diversity.
